Reading

Reading is the cornerstone of a strong educational foundation for preschoolers. Through engaging stories, children develop language skills, expand their vocabulary, and foster a love for learning. Symphony Reader utilizes Digital Simulations of Cognition, DSC™️, which are animated and interactive slide shows that help children learn abstract reading concepts with visual simulations that model the cognitive processes of reading. Children respond to cognitive play with captured attention, deep mental engagement, and accelerated learning.

cMath

Math is a foundational language and powerful tool in the fields of science, medicine, architecture and engineering. Yet, math has played second fiddle in priority to the teaching of reading and writing, and taught with a goal of procedural competence rather than mathematical reasoning. Our focus of instruction is on number sense, the foundation of early math learning through dynamic digital content, problem solving through illustrated story telling, and math talks that have students discuss and explain their understanding of math. Our math program is developed through the research work and prescribe learning paths by National Research Council. "Mathematics Learning in Early Childhood: Paths Toward Excellence and Equity." Science

UCLA's Early Care and Education division describe preschool students as "scientists in waiting". Young children are naturally inquisitive about their surroundings and are eager to discover new things. Based on their findings and research, they developed a framework called, Preschool Pathways to Science, that equips educators to serve a key role in modeling, guiding, and supporting the skills of a scientist. From this framework, we design experiences that develop the skills of a scientist: observing, comparing and contrasting, measuring, predicting, checking, recording, and reporting.

Social Emotional Development

In unison with academic instruction, social emotional development is essential to developing a foundation of self-awareness, an awareness of others, and how to act accordingly. We base our instruction on the Zones of Regulation curriculum, which presents age-appropriate frameworks and strategies.

The approach of this curriculum is not one of punishment but one of recognition and understanding to act accordingly. Our identification of and response to being in certain emotional states is our focus and opportunity. Additionally, we hope to develop a sense of empathy for others and to help each other in the proper way.

Physical Development

Throughout every course and every lesson, we integrate movement because the body and brain work best when in collaboration. For fine motor development, our in-class activities involve hand strengthening and coordination exercises like writing, drawing, and building structures with our build materials. For motor development, our in-class activities involve movement such as hand signal and dancing while our outdoor activities consist of free play and structured P.E. activities from the CATCH curriculum.

Christian Principles

Rooted in our faith, we strive to create an enriching environment where children not only grow academically but also spiritually. Our curriculum is carefully designed to intertwine age-appropriate learning with the teachings of Jesus Christ. We foster kindness, empathy, and respect, instilling in our young learners the values of love, compassion, and forgiveness. Through engaging stories and activities, we encourage children to explore moral principles that shape their character and guide their interactions with others.
